Darren Murph of Engadget, the leading web magazine that covers the trends in gadgets and consumer electronics, has written an interesting feature on UCLA researcher Dr. Aydogan Ozca’ work to convert a standard mobile phone into a device that enables anywhere access to blood analysis.
This innovation could have enormous effects on the health of the developing and the developed world and whilst it’s a wonder (in light of the enormous R&D budgets of the major Mobile and Medical Device Manufacturers) that it has taken a young photonics research group to announce this innovation, it’s just more evidence that the mHealth revolution is going to happen even if it’s not in the wider interests of the Healthcare or Mobile industry!
