iPhone 4 “Childrens Home” worker Scam

Here’s another example of a scammer advertising (on Gumtree) an iPhone 4 in the hope that some unfortunate punter will send them some money…

I think it’s an interesting lesson in the trust the public place in someone who claims to work in a “childrens home” and the value that the @socialworker.net – a rather genuine looking email address -can give an otherwise very unsophisticated online scam.

I thought I’d flag it as I think it does a good job of highlighting several of the patient privacy issues that can arise as Healthcare organisations begin to engage with patients in open social media communities.
