Review of the Mobile Healthcare Industry Summit

The 1st December 2009 was a very important date for the mobile industry. Not only did it mark its 30th anniversary but it was also a day when the industry gathered at the Mobile Healthcare Industry Summit in London to discuss the opportunity for mobiles to improve the quality and efficiency of the healthcare industry.

I was very proud to have been able to contribute to helping create and organise this inaugural event along with the staff at Informa, Europes leading conference organiser and medical publisher, with particular responsibility for organising the Harley Street Reception and the Investment & Partnering Stream.

Developed in co-operation with the Continua Alliance, Bluetooth SIG, NHS, mHealth Alliance and GSMA, the event proved an overwhelming success with over 150 delegates filling the capacity of the Thistle Hotel, Marble Arch. The countless presentations, conversations and discoveries that I enjoyed during the 4 days of conference and pre/post workshops have made it impossible to do justice with a single post summary (like I managed for Mobile World Congress 2008/2009) so I’ve divided my thoughts up into smaller more manageable snippets, please click the following links to read more detail and as always feel welcome to comment:

> A special thanks to the team at Informa for making this happen
> Vittorio Colao, Group CEO, Vodafone (Opening Keynote)
> Background to the Investment and Partnering Stream and the judging process
> Brief Synopsis on the companies that presented in the Investment & Partnering Stream: Cinterion, eMedicus, HealthSmart, MedApps (winner), Mobidarn, Patients Know Best (runner up) and Sinseprod (runner up).
