NHS Direct website now offers landing page informing visitors to ring 111 if “you need medical help fast, but it’s not a 999 emergency”

NHS DIrect Homepage Redirect 25 March 2013

Although it clearly doesn’t need any help you’d think the NHS ReDirect wanted 111 to fail.

Could you imagine any organisation (other than the NHS) redirecting their informational website to a landing page that instructed visitors looking for information to call a free telephone number?

I wonder if the people who decided it was a good idea to post this landing page care at all about the patients that might suffer as a result of the huge quantities of limited healthcare resources this will waste and the additional delays it will lead to for patients trying to call for medical advice?
