Rescuers use network coordinates of an out of coverage mobile phone to find 82 year old missing man

Susan Koomar of the Pocono Record has an interesting story of the rescue of a man after a 32 hour search in subfreezing temperatures.

The successful rescue relied on location coordinates of his out of range mobile provided by his mobile operator.

A great good news story that also makes me wonder what other useful ways could we find to utilise this available data…
