Oske, a programme for the Ministry of the Economy and Employment of the Finnish Government and the Kuopio Wellbeing Cluster have announced that they are the enabling sponsors and founding partners of the European mHealth Alliance (EuMHA) which will be launched at in conjunction with European Connected Health Campus and Manchester University’s mHealth Innovation Centre at the European Connected Health Leadership Summit in Belfast, Northern Ireland on the 16 June 2010.
The initiative is designed to “support and promote the wider adoption of healthcare and wellbeing (including sports and fitness) products, services, applications and innovation across Europe” and is a non-profit organisation that will “concentrate on the economic development of mHealth, with a target of making Europe a world leader in this field” through support of “both the private and public sectors working together through collaboration”.
The “EuMHA” website (www.EuMHA.com) will be launched at the event in Belfast on June 16th with more information on the organisation. Directors that have been named so far include Doug Chambers (former Director of Strategy for the GSMA) and Ilkka Vartiainen (Development Manager at Teknia). More information and registration for the European Connected Health Leadership Summit can be found at echcampus.com.
Of course if you’re making the trip to Belfast why not join us for a mHealth talk and networking at Mobile Monday Belfast. This event is completely FREE to attend although (due to popularity and venue size limitations) we have only a few places remaining.
UPDATE: A colleague just emailed me to remind people that the website is going to be EuMHA.com and not EuMHA.eu which is the home of the European United Miniature Horse Association (and a website full of incredibly cute miniature horses!)
