Embarrassing Bodies Doctors to Broadcast Live from the Homes of Patients via Webcams

Whilst I’m pretty sure about where they got the idea for “The Doctor Can See You Now” strapline I’m surprised the Channel 4 producers of Embarrassing Illnesses haven’t taken advantage of the access the British public have to mobile video technologies (eg. 3G Video Calls, FaceTime or Skype/QIK) for their next series (starts 8pm Wednesday 25th May):

I also really hope that these consultations aren’t actually being broadcast live and are at least loosely scripted and rehearsed before hand. In my experience the uncertainty with which patients approach a medical consultation about an embarrassing problem make it unlikely that they could also be expected to have a full and considered appreciation of the what it would mean to be sharing this very personal information live with the rest of the world.
