What’s stopped the media regarding Nokia and Samsung as innovative?

Reading this Fast Company top 50 list of the “Worlds Most Innovative Companies” and I’m wondering if anyone else has noticed that Nokia (the brand that is carried 24×7 by 2 billion citizens on this planet and defined the last Decade) and Samsung (the brand that’s pretty much taken over Nokia’s role with a device for nearly everyone) are missing?

Okay the majority of the profits in the smartphone market are currently with Apple but it’s quite easy to see that profits will get thinner as Apple moves beyond the top 5% and the mass market smartphone user experience is catching up – especially clear when you look at the proficiency of the diverse 30+ smartphone line up that Samsung is retailing today in the UK:
