A rather fun debate started after I fell for an April Fools Day prank (that was posted in March!) about a senior/care focused mobile service offering in the mHealth group on Linkedin.
It got me thinking about other possible value added services that would be attractive to this market. I’ve always felt the senior/care phone market could really do well with a scam preventation strategy as the inbuilt almost unlimited billing that mobile contracts offer can present a major challenge and fear to those on limited budgets.
I think the problem of premium rate scams and bogus/scam callers is much larger than most of us appreciate and it’s a widely ignored and underserved need with those on limited budgets and who are vulnerable to deceptive tactics of scammers/fraudsters. Although I’ve seen various KidSafe services, eg. Sentry Wireless, I’ve not yet heard of anything directly appealing to protect the income and privacy of seniors. Have you? What else would you like to see?
