Seven companies and four men have been charged with involvement in a $1 billion telemedicine fraud scheme involving allegedly filed false claims for payment and misleading doctors and patients in order to defraud private health benefit programs.

I think people are going to soon realise that type of insurance fraud is just this is the tip of an iceberg and the sooner regulators do their job and prevent this from being possible (or the success of Apple’s mHealth strategy kills off the Health Insurer vice grip on healthcare services) the better because in my opinion broad daylight scams like this are really what’s behind these huge speculative VC investments in zombie telemedicine companies and it’s having significant harm on the honest financial prospects of ethical companies who are trying to add value to Patients and Carers lives – like 3GDoctor 😉
